Johor-Singapore Second Link Bridge Run

TUAS, SINGAPORE -- Motorists driving into Johor on Sunday morning have been advised to use the Woodlands Checkpoint instead of the Second Link at Tuas.

This is to avoid any inconvenience expected during the Johor-Singapore Second Link Bridge Run as the bridge will not be fully closed while the event is on.

The Run is organised by the Johor State Government and other Malaysia organizations with support from its Singapore counterparts.

Some 5,000 participants are expected.

"It is good to see that the second link is being put to some good uses, otherwise it is going to be a waste of money." said Mr. Tan, a motorist using the second link. "I have always tried to use the second link, not because it has less users, but just to make sure my tax money are being utilized."

"Maybe the authority can organize such event more often, perhaps a weekend flea-market or a foam party on this link bridge. This definitely will increase the utilization of this link. The link is so quiet, it feels scary sometime" said another motorist using the link, Mr. Syed.

The LTA also warns that the Woodland link is expected to be very crowded when the Bridge Run is happening on Sunday morning. And Singaporeans are advised to do their bargain shopping within the border of Singapore. The LTA will try to arrange sales among some of the leading departmental stores to induce Singaporeans to shop within the island on that day.
