First
Internet Home Unveiled
BISHAN,
SINGAPORE -- Information & Communication
Development Authority (ICDA) with its other partners,
unveiled the creation of the first Internet Home to the public. This
idea of an Internet home was put forth in June, and has been the driving
force of ICDA existence since then. This show-house in Bishan is the
first truly Internet Home, all furnishings are in HTML format and are
placed on the World-Wide-Web. The home owner would have to be converted
to a digital signal each time he or she wants to go home. A special
modem is created by ICDA to convert a human being into digital signal,
and vice versa. The home owner is also required to sign up with an
Internet Service Providers in order to have access to this home.
Although this new Internet Home concept is very exciting, problems such
as intruders, hackers, privacy and viruses are not addressed.
"These are valid concerns, but most Singaporeans are used to such
problems already. And we think that the most pressing concerns among the
Singaporean are the, price of the home, whether is it a free-holding
asset and whether is it a value enhancing asset." claimed the ICDA
spoke-person.
Ministry
Announces New "A" Level Syllabuses

SIANG ROAD, SINGAPORE -- The Ministry has announced last night
that a new curriculum for "A" Level starting next year. This
new syllabus will focus on the critical thinking skills of the student.
It will train students on how to make calculated guesses for multiple
choice questions, how to write 100 words per minute for essay-type
questions, and how to use colorful ink in their writing to disguise
their inability to answer the question correctly. A poll by CNC
indicates that 80% of the various pre-university and junior college
principals welcomed the change. "This is progress! Finally, we are
grooming talents for our next generation of leaders!", cheered one
principal. However, some of the principals who did not favored the
change suggested to replace the "A" and "O" Levels
with the "Air" and "All" Levels, which are
developed recently by some students who had score straight As for their
"A" Level.
Couples Urged To Take Up Certified
Pre-Marriage Courses

CANNING HILL, SINGAPORE -- Four
out of five couples planning to get married do not take up the Community
Development Ministry's offer of pre-marriage courses, says
the Ministry's spoke-person. In order to increase the attendance
rate, the ministry has decided to certify these courses. The
level of certification is equivalent to the GCE "A" Level
certification. In addition, couples who do well for the courses are
eligible for President Scholarship at a prestige foreign university.
Gifted couples will also be given the opportunity to produce gifted
children in a gifted environment. The ministry also believes that with
such certification, most newly wedded couples will be able to get better
paid job as well as the attention from the HDB officials while applying
for their HDB flat.
